Just because ... ♡

I have worked within the community for the past 55 years. Congaree Cares was founded in 2020. It then became a 501(c)(3) organization because we wanted to continue bringing events and programs into the community that we truly cared for.

Our committee members are: Debbies McDonald, Karen Lozano, Becky Steele, Lori Lyles, Judith Simpson, Christian McCarthy, and James Jett.

  • Memorial Day

    For anyone interested in veterans' affairs, music, dance, and community gatherings, our annual Memorial Day celebration is a wonderful way to spend a day and learn something new.

  • Quilts of Valor

    We partner with the South Congaree American Legion Auxiliary Unit 90 to make quilt tops for veterans. They are then honored in a ceremony, “quilted,” with friends and family.

  • Pillows for Soldiers

    We make neck pillows for soldiers that are being deployed. Dozens of soldiers come out when we’re finished, and it is truly an honor to serve those that serve our country every day.

  • Halloween Spooktacular

    Friends and families come in costumes to this annual even, collecting goodies from decorated tables, tents, and trunks. This is always a free event and open to the public.

    We celebrate our veterans each year with music, awards, and camaraderie. This annual event serves as a heartfelt tribute to those who have courageously served our country.

    This has quickly become a fan favorite! Many local businesses enjoy decorating inside and outside, and we award the best of the best. It’s a fun way to bring the holiday spirit to our community.
